Learning and Growing in Business

Accounting major Matthew Messina ’09 was drawn to Adelphi University because of the reputation of its School of Business.

Matthew said, “The program is extensive and ensures a positive learning experience for students.” After graduation, Matthew plans on pursuing his master’s degree, becoming a certified public accountant, and working in New York City.

He said the faculty and staff, namely Assistant Dean Brian Rothschild, are readily available to assist the students in their academic endeavors. “Assistant Dean Brian Rothschild has been essential in helping me to achieve my career goals,” says Mr. Messina. Dean Rothschild aided Matthew in obtaining an internship with Long Island Development Corporation in Bethpage. “This internship has provided me with a learning experience outside of the classroom that is beneficial to my future endeavors,” he said.

In addition to his academics, he is a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. “I am impressed with the various activities and clubs outside of the academic program which provide for a memorable college experience,” said Matthew.

He lives in Copiague and commutes to Adelphi’s Garden City campus.  The tranquil atmosphere and welcoming ambiance of the campus were instrumental in his decision to attend Adelphi.

“If you are planning on pursuing a career in business, I would definitely recommend Adelphi as the college of choice,” he said.
