From the Dean’s Desk

soFall is always a time of new beginnings and fresh starts in higher education. We eagerly anticipate a new cohort of University College students who will start their Adelphi journey with us this fall. In addition, we welcome Christine M. Riordan, Ph.D., to campus as the new president of Adelphi University. Dr. Riordan becomes the 10th, and first female, president of the University.

University College will continue to expand its program offerings and student services for adult and nontraditional students in the coming year. We will also continue to lead the Adelphi’s distance education efforts through the growth and expansion of online and blended programs, courses and student support. Over the past few years, we continually improved the quality of instruction and student support available to online and blended students while maintaining a high level of student success for our on-campus programs. Over the course of this year, we will be announcing several new distance education initiatives to continue our work in this area.

We will also be continuing our outreach efforts to high school students and veterans. The Office of High School and Pre-College Programs will continue to expand our network of partner high schools while we add more program offerings to the summer pre-college programs on campus.  We have many events planned for our student veterans studying at Adelphi this year and will continue to expand program offerings in our Veteran Resource Center.

We welcome, and welcome back, all University College students as we begin another exciting and successful year.  Have a great start to the academic year!

Regards,

Shawn O’Riley, Ed.D.
Dean
