The field of emergency management is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the labor market, and it is projected to grow over the next decade. Through a broad, all-hazard perspective, the graduate certificate in Emergency Management program prepares you for leadership roles in organizations and services that deal with natural disasters, homeland security, and terrorism. Emergency managers play a pivotal role in our nation’s security and crisis management infrastructure. They are vital to the system that keeps our citizens safe and secure during times of uncertainty.

To meet the critical need for trained professionals who can respond effectively to emergency situations, College of Professional and Continuing Studies offers the interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management.  Learn more about what you can do with a degree in emergency management.

This 18-credit graduate certificate program consists of six courses that maximize the extensive resources of Adelphi University and the program can be completed within one calendar year.  Each class is taught in an asynchronous and fully online format. The plan of study includes five required core courses and a choice of one homeland security elective. Classes include Introduction to Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Health Management in Times of Disaster, Emergency Operations and Planning, and Emergency Management Law.  All courses can be applied towards the M.S. in Emergency Management.
